Local utilities like; Pg&E, SMUD, and others are going to be fined huge fines because our power is generated out of state. Look at your bill, about half of your charges are transmission charges because our power is shipped here from out of state. Half of your bill is not the electricity you've used, it's them shipping it to you... What the heck? California has passed new laws that are going to hit these utility conglomerates with enormous fines for not creating more clean energy in our own state. Net metering allows your home to have an additional meter put on your house. This meter allows you to generate electricity and put it back on the grid. You produce the energy with your equipment, and no longer rely on Pg&E. Because you're doing your part and helping Ca. produce more clean energy in state, utilities won't be fined (not that we should care about them) but they need us as much as we need electricity. Let's free ourselves from their monopoly and LET THEM DEPEND ON US AS WELL. Electricity isn't going anywhere; we're going to have to pay a utility company or we can create and generate our own. Let's free ourselves.
